Family History
MECS, standing for Morrison Enterprise of Cordials and Spirits, currently offers a portfolio of more than 20 unique brand lines, covering 100+ products, and building new brands to add to the portfolio. Founded in 1948, MECS, originally stemming from Morris E. Curiel & Sons, specializes in producing global liquor and spirits brands while leveraging its network and extensive expertise in brand building across the Dutch Caribbean and Latin America. The company builds on its family’s long history in production, export/import and distribution of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as many other product types.
The history behind MECS is not a short one. In fact, it spans more than 100 years and almost 6 generations, dating all the way back to the 19th century. Elias Moses Curiel, a merchant sailor prominent in the late 19th century, made the family’s first step into different industries including the liquor business.
